Need help with DNS/Zone File
Post by Sanaxx on May 24, 2007 9:04:19 AM CST

Cause I'm a freaking idiot when it comes to DNS and getting it right, I need some help.

I'm trying to get the MX records, CNAMES and A Records all straightened out.

right now here's the setup:

A record:
@ points to our server IP (which I know is wrong)
mail points to our server IP for our exchange server

CNAMES:
smtp - smtp.domain.com
mail - mail.domain.com
www - @
ftp - @

MX:
mail 0 - host: mail - mail.domain.com
smtp 10 - host: smtp - smtp.domain.com

Now, I know I need to change the A record and the CNAMES, but I'm not sure to what....

I want the @ to point to the godaddy hosting server and my mail to point to my exchange server. Problem being that when I change the @ host to the godaddy server, my mail doesn't come through.

I'm pretty sure I need to get rid of CNAMES, but to be honest, I'm confused as all hell about it.

Help? Anyone?
