Monster.com website hacked and data stolen

A news report on Fox technology news revealed a large scale hacking effort and stealing of more than 1.6 million user's profile data and subsequent phising attacks with to those emails asking them to download a software. That software turned out to be a Trojan.

"In all, more than 1.6 million entries in Monster's system belonging to "several hundred thousand" members were taken after the hackers logged in using the details of employers who routinely scour the site for prospective workers, according to the Silicon Valley security firm Symantec."

Symantec detected a trojan which used data collected from Monster.com website by hackers to lock user files on personal computer and ask for ransom money before releasing those files.
