Monster.com website hacked and data stolen

A news report on Fox technology news revealed a large scale hacking effort and stealing of more than 1.6 million user's profile data and subsequent phising attacks with to those emails asking them to download a software. That software turned out to be a Trojan.

"In all, more than 1.6 million entries in Monster's system — belonging to "several hundred thousand" members — were taken after the hackers logged in using the details of employers who routinely scour the site for prospective workers, according to the Silicon Valley security firm Symantec."

Symantec detected a trojan which used data collected from Monster.com website by hackers to lock user files on personal computer and ask for ransom money before releasing those files.
