Strange problem with domain name configuration
Post by rpattanaik on Nov 4, 2007 7:43:10 PM CST

We have a few domain names registered with Network solutions. Recently, we changed web hosts. In the process, we created our name servers at Network solutions and had those setup by our webhosts (we lease a dedicated server). Then we had some of our domains at Network solutions point to our new name servers.

All our domains point to the right IPs EXCEPT ONE and FOR JUST ONE ISP. For this local ISP this one domain has been pointing to the previous IP for the past 15 days or so. We thought may be the servers at this ISP have not updated for some reason. So we had another domain server at Network solutions. But to our surprise the latest domain changes showed up with the ISP right away.

We have applied the domain name change for the particular domain more than once with no results. It is just this one domain and for this one ISP (it's ok everywhere else)

we are at a loss to understand this. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

You will have to look at the settings for the domain name you are having problem, maybe I could have helped if you provided the domain name in your post.

- Look for the name servers (DNS servers) in the whois records for the domain name in question. A good place is http://whois.domaintools.com.

- Then look at the settings on the DNS servers to see if there is an A record or CNAME for that domain name. Note that these records should exist in ALL the DNS servers listed for the domain (though the entries may be different for load distribution/balancing).

- If the above 2 match, look for your web server settings and see if the A record or CNAME points it to that web server.
